Pickers Paradise

Okay, so you know how I had a jam packed AWESOME wonderful day on Saturday? Well, here is one more crazy thing I got to see!

Thanks to my sister, Esther, I have discovered a pickers paradise!

Located in the Abbotsford area (luuuuuv their fake road signs)

it is nestled in the Sumas Flats in the middle of ‘sweet smelling’ farm country!  Nothing like the strong smell of cow shit to awaken the senses!

Once you get there you can’t miss the signs, but trust me, you would never guess that all the barns and machine sheds house Western Canada’s largest private collection of EVERYTHING!  I’m not kidding…EVERYTHING!!!  Just take a look (it will take a while to get through all the pics but you’ll see what I mean when I say EVERYTHING! And I haven’t even included all the hundreds of pics I took…I know you have laundry to do, kids to drive around, meals to prepare, but enjoy the pickers paradise eye candy!)

This is just the entry foyer… (look at my sister, she is giddy with excitement!)

There is even a complete Dentist’s Office

Look at these tools…really?  The dentist pulls out teeth with THOSE?!!!  Ruuuuuun!

And I am not even going to answer this question…

I’m telling you, this building is huge and just keeps on going…

What a crock…or twenty…

“Operator, I’d like to make a call please…”

More old stuff…

Then we walk over to the next building…

who needs wallpaper when you can hold up your walls with these license plates…

And there are lots of rusty gears and ‘industrial chic’…this is just for you, Funky Junk Donna!

Have horse will travel…

or do you want something a little more modern?

I’ll take the moped and these gas prices…check it out…$0.29/gallon!!!  GASP!

Do you need a salt and pepper shaker?

What about a lantern?

Are you a Coca Cola buff?  Do you have any of these items?

Or maybe you are more of a ‘spirits’ collector?

A song comes to mind…99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall…

And a couple of rooms dedicated to dolls!

And then there is another barn…

two stories of stuff…

maybe Granny and Grumpa will be organ donors?

How about a new washing machine?

old spice…

or a toy for your kids…a ‘creme de la creme’ pedal car…

it just goes on and on….

CAN WE SAY OVERWHELMED?!!!!

Even as we were leaving there were more collections outside on Granny and Grumpas lawn…

and then, who should come outside to greet us, but Granny herself.  She brought a pail of slop with her so that we could feed the pigs together!  Oh yes, this was a totally interactive experience!

Granny is a total character and full of vim and vigor…she had rhubarb custard pies in the oven baking, and she used a farm expletive to describe how she felt about the mess that the pies made in the oven when they overflowed!  We like Granny!

Soooooo…what did you think?  Apparently everything is for sale…for the right price…depending on the day…depending on Grumpa’s mood.  Even if you don’t want to buy anything, it is just fun to see EVERYTHING!  And maybe if you are lucky you will get to meet Granny too!

Holy Toledo, a picker’s paradise! Overwhelming, though. I feel like I would have a nervous breakdown walking through there! Thanks for sharing! How did you find out about it? To think I lived there all my life, and it was there all the time. Good picking, in the cow pile, who would have thought!
