After having had such a gorgeous weekend of sunshine and melting snow, today brought a swift reminder that we are still in February.
The ornamental crabapples hung frozen and heavy…
The patio chairs don’t exactly beckon “Come sit for a while” as much as they say, “Do Not Come Out Here! Stay inside, turn on the fireplace, we’ll be waiting for you in May!”
But then last night, the wind subsided. An other worldly calm took its place.
It was Midnight in the Ocean of Snow.
I lit some candles and played with my camera settings.
I played with the white balance manually and got some Purple Haze…
And then just a little back to earth normality…
But then from this unassuming candle holder…
We have some groovy, trippy fun with light and turn that candle holder into some cool works of art just by slowly zooming in or out during a long shutter opening of 10 seconds….
And my favorite, A Peacock of Light…
Are you digging it? And that concludes Lesson #251 on how to have fun with your camera …at night…in the snow…whilst freezing your caboose off.
Have a fabulous day, even if you are somewhere warm and/or tropical…like…oh I don’t know…Palm Springs?!! Six people from my family are there right now…enjoying sunshine and warm weather and awesome flea markets…I’m not one bit jealous…lucky bums!

Your people are close to some of my people who live with sunshine pretty much all year round. Love the photo opportunities snow provides but I don’t want to live with it for longer than say…2 days max! I really enjoyed your snow collection…
Six people from your family in PS? Hmmmm. I met some of your people at a FCC event last night…so I know they are home where they belong.
It looks like you know how to make fun…snow or not.
Ah, yes, that darn snow sneaking in and reminding us it’s still February. Did it here, too. Melted, now just damp cold. And grey. Woohooo! Typical February weather.
Lovely photos. You always do take a good one and I love the different looks of all of them.
Ocean of snow….nice ring to it. Better than my ocean of mud?
Great shots of snow and lights..definetly camera happy!
I see you’re making the best of the snow…the pictures are so pretty. But that snow…well, I’m just so sorry!
Luv the pictures Karen…I also took advantage of the snow today and spent the day on the ski hill. Fresh snow, sunny day and a quiet mind. Bliss! Ok kids and other people skiing and whizzing by me but I didn’t care. Slow and steady enjoying the moment of quite peaceful serenity!
