Fancy Schmancy

It is Fancy Schmancy day today.  Julia is soaking up sun and surf at a fancy schmancy resort and I am going to show you how to have some fancy schmancy fun for free or close to free.  Let’s look at fancy schmancy for free first…we love FREE.

For all of you Pinterest Peeps…have you checked out “The Fancy” yet?  It’s like Pinterest but on a high end level.  It’s all things fancy schmancy.  And who introduced me to The Fancy?  Our very own fancy schmancy Julia!

And this past weekend, I got to get up close and personal with some fancy schmancy for FREE.  Oh we love the words FREE, have you noticed?!  My SIL sure knows how to turn a family visit into a fancy schmancy event! She took us to a couple of their favorite free fancy schmancy hot spots!

First up…Wilden Show Homes in Kelowna, B.C.   If you are ever in Kelowna, take some time to pop into the showhomes (open daily 1-5) and you can go and see some fancy schmancy for free.  We are talking flat screen TV’s that come out of the ceiling in the kitchen, infinity bathtubs, TV’s in the bathroom mirrors!  We weren’t allowed to take pictures in any of the showhomes except for the Rykon home (which was my absolute hands down favorite!).  I fell in love with the kitchen (probably because it is black and white and has every dreamy appliance you could ever wish for!)

I loved the AGA legacy stove, the hammered steel sink and the fridge that looked like an armoire, here is a full view (once again I was taking blurry pics with my iPhone, but this way you can see the full refrigerator armoire effect and my niece who is going to help me plan the details into my next dream home!)

But oddly my niece and  I realllllllly loved the laundry room that was just off the kitchen…

Okay sure it has a lot of room for doing laundry/folding etc, but look at that nice little nook at the end, here is a better view (Luuuuuuuuv the phone)…

a laundry room with it’s own built in desk…sigh….but that’s not all…just across from the washer and dryer is a gift wrapping and jacket hanging area….

It’s a multi purpose, high functioning, efficiently designed work station that I would love to ‘work’ in.   And when you go through the Wilden Showhomes it’s really fun to pretend that it is YOUR home!

We continued our Fancy Schmancy tour to the top of a mountain near Vernon, B.C.  where you will find the trendiest SPA in the world right now, Sparkling Hills.   Here’s what you see as you drive up (these are Sparkling Hills pro photos)…

And this is the view from the other side of the resort at the infinity pool overlooking Lake Okanagan…

And you just have to check out their KurSpa…I have never even heard of half of the spa treatments that they have, like the IceLab spa that treats inflamed joints and arthritic pain with a -110 C cold spa…Their wellness spa is huge!  And they take it very seriously…just look at the sign in the elevator…

So why is it called Sparkling Hills?  Maybe because Swarovski crystals are built into everything!  Even the Ladies Restroom sign is done with Swarovski crystals (these are pics you won’t see on their website! LOL)…

And the bathroom mirrors have crystal inlays…

Everywhere you go….crystals (and my awesome tour guide)…

But for really good non-iPhone pics check out their website, or better yet, go to Sparkling Hills just for the fun of it!  Oh and if you go to Sparkling Hills, don’t forget to take your picture in the coat check tree!

And what about some fancy schmancy food? My SIL’s home made food is always the best but if you can’t get her home cooking and want some food that tastes fancy schmancy but without the fancy schmancy price, you want to go to a delish yummy place called “Little Tex”  in Vernon.  We enjoyed crazy quesadillas (I had a chicken, blueberry, coconut, spinach quesadilla…helllllllloooooooooo!) and soups (I had the spicy thai peanut zucchini soup…WILD YUM!).

And another reminder that I suck at taking pics with my iPhone!  I’ll bring my fancy schmancy camera and tripod next time!

Wishing you all a fancy schmancy day!

Now I am going to go and finish my fancy schmancy house chores!
